Seeds & Cultivation
What distinguishes feminised seeds from autoflowering varieties?
Feminised seeds produce female plants and flower when the daily dark period passes about twelve hours โ indoors you flip the timer, outdoors the shortening autumn light does it for you. Autoflowers ignore daylight and bloom on age, finishing eight to ten weeks from sprout. In New Zealand that difference decides more than it does elsewhere: south of about Taranaki the first frost sets the deadline, not your preference, so an autoflower planted in November finishes while a late photoperiod sativa is still filling out.
How should I keep my seeds viable over time?
An airtight jar in the fridge, kept dark and dry, holds viability for years. The part that catches people out here is humidity rather than temperature: most of New Zealand sits well above the moisture level seeds like, so a silica sachet in the jar earns its place, and taking the jar out to warm to room temperature before opening stops condensation forming on cold seeds.
Do you back your seeds with a germination promise?
Absolutely. Should your seeds not sprout when you follow our recommended germination technique, we will send replacements at no charge. Simply reach out within 30 days of receiving your parcel, including your order reference and photographs that document your germination attempt.
Can I get growing tips from your team?
Yes. Our growing guides are written for growing at 34 to 47 degrees south โ plant out from October, harvest March to May, and plan around a wet autumn rather than a dry one. Most cannabis advice online is written for the Northern Hemisphere and is six months out of step by the time it reaches you. If you tell us your region and whether you are indoors or out, we will narrow the catalogue for you.
Which strains handle a New Zealand summer best?
New Zealand summers are rarely hot enough to stress cannabis โ humidity is the harder problem. In Northland, Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, where February and March are muggy, prioritise open bud structure and mould resistance over heat tolerance. Sativa-dominant hybrids suit the warm north because the season is long enough to finish them. Further south, through Canterbury, Otago and Southland, dry summers suit almost any variety and the real constraint is finishing before the first frost.
