Privacy Policy
In force since March 2026
Buying seed is a private thing, and this page sets out plainly what an order leaves behind at our end. Royal King Seeds operates under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles that the Office of the Privacy Commissioner administers.
What an Order Leaves With Us
Between browsing and checkout, this is what accumulates:
- Who you are: the name and email address you type at checkout, or in a message to support.
- Where it goes: a postal address, because a courier cannot deliver without one.
- How you paid: the card brand and its final four digits. The rest of the number never reaches our servers — it goes straight to the payment processor, which is PCI-DSS certified.
- How you arrived: IP address, browser, the pages you opened and the site that sent you, collected by cookies and analytics.
What It Gets Used For
- Packing and sending the order, which means printing a label and raising a tracking number.
- Telling you the parcel has gone out, and answering you when you write in.
- Seeing, in aggregate, which pages work and which do not — that is how the catalogue and the site get better.
- Meeting record-keeping duties that New Zealand law places on a retailer.
Your details are not sold, rented, or handed to anyone else to market to you. That is not a policy we intend to revisit.
How It Is Held
- Traffic between your browser and this site runs over TLS.
- Card processing sits with a PCI-DSS certified provider; complete card numbers are never stored here.
- Staff accounts reach only the data their role needs.
- The hosting platform and site dependencies are kept on current versions.
Cookies
Some cookies are structural — without them a cart forgets what is in it between pages. Others are analytics, and exist so we can count visits without identifying visitors. Your browser can refuse both. Refuse the structural ones and parts of the site will stop working properly, which is a fair trade if you want it.
What the Privacy Act 2020 Entitles You To
Living in New Zealand, the Information Privacy Principles give you the following:
- A copy (IPP 6): ask, and we send you what we hold about you.
- A correction (IPP 7): tell us something is wrong or stale and we fix it — or, if we disagree, we attach your statement of correction to the record.
- Erasure: ask us to delete what we hold, and we will, except where a law requires us to keep it.
- A complaint: raise it with us, or take it directly to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
All of it starts at the same address: support@royalkingseeds.co.nz.
How Long We Keep It
Order records stay for as long as it takes to meet our obligations to you and the tax and record-keeping requirements that apply to a New Zealand business. Account data can be deleted on request at any point, other than what those obligations oblige us to retain.
