Sour Ape Auto

Sour Ape is bought for what comes off it, and the sourced figures are up to 350 g/m2 under lights and up to 400 g/plant from a plant grown out. Those are ceilings, not promises — pot volume, light intensity and how honestly you feed decide where you land inside them. Run the numbers for your own tent with the yield calculator before committing to a pack size, and put it next to the rest of the high-yield strains if weight is the whole point.

What the sourced data gives for this cultivar: up to 350 g/m2 under lights, up to 400 g/plant from a plant grown outside. Reaching either is an environment problem before it is a genetics one.

Root volume sets the ceiling before a single flower forms. Under-pot a plant and no feeding schedule rescues it. Get the container right early and the plant does the rest.

Light is the second lever, and the one most growers get wrong in both directions — too little through veg, too much in late flower where it bleaches rather than builds. Steady beats aggressive.

The third is the fortnight around the flip. Autoflowers give you no flip to manage, which is exactly why the vegetative period has to be right the first time — there is no second chance to fix a stunted start.

Feed to the plant rather than the calendar. Our nutrient calculator gives a starting schedule; the plant will tell you where it is wrong. Worth a side-by-side comparison before you commit if weight is the deciding factor.

Reported effects cluster around relaxed, happy, euphoric. At 16% THC that is a meaningful figure rather than a decorative one, and the sensible approach with anything in this range is to start lower than you think and wait longer than feels necessary.

The 59/41 balance shapes where it lands: even-handed, with the dominant direction shifting by dose more than by time of day. Tolerance moves this more than any other variable, which is why two people describe the same jar differently.

Prefer something gentler? The CBD-forward strains range trades peak potency for balance.

Myrcene leads, limonene sits behind it, and pinene runs underneath.

Aroma is not fixed at harvest — it develops. Fresh flower leads hard with myrcene; three or four weeks in sealed glass at a stable 16 to 18 degrees lets limonene and pinene come forward as the sharper volatiles clear. Jars opened at week one and week five smell like different plants.

Sour Ape is rated easy. That makes it a reasonable first grow — it survives inconsistent watering and imprecise feeding without collapsing, which is what a first season mostly consists of. Being an autoflower removes light-cycle management entirely, which suits balcony growers and anyone wanting a fast turnaround.
